Summer 2010

It has been a busy summer. All of the required paperwork was finished in the spring and our dossier was sent to China in early June. The dossier is the binder of all the official paperwork that took me 4 months to gather (and that was working on the paperwork almost everyday!!!) There are two important dates when you have finished the paperwork. The first is DTC or Dossier to China. The other is the LID date or the Log in Date. Our DTC was June 16th and our LID date was June 24th. Now our adoption agency can officially begin to look for our daughter. It is exciting at this point. Our adoption agency is European Adoption Consultants (EAC) out of Strongsville, Ohio. We are working with Carla in the China department. She is great! Carla informed us that a group of girls available for adoption will be released either this week or next week. Hopefully we get a match!

Service Meeting Complete!

The Drive to Cleveland for our service/adoption seminar was a rainy and dreary one. It poured rain all day long. The service meeting went well and we met several families from the Columbus area. There were 3 couples (including us) and two single women there. Just one other couple adopting from China. The rest were there to adopt from Russia. We were surprised that all the couples also had biological children too! We thought that we would be a minority but it turns out to be a common thing. The meeting went well and we met with a social worker and therapist. The theme of the meeting was "bonding". Learned some interesting things about the adoption process. We also watched a video about some of the past groups that went over to China. Lots of touring and shopping. Will be an exciting place to visit. Now off to more paper work and the dossier.

So the Journey begins to bring home our Little Chinese girl. It will definately be a girl as Amy will have it no other way :). We are looking to adopt an 12-24 month girl. We are quite a bit into the intitial paper work portion and have just scheduled the homestudy. I must say up to this point it is a crazy and involved process. Fingerprints, drug test, physicals, background check, driving records, salary, police reports, you name it, they want it. They have wanted everything but my left kidney (who knows maybe that is later on in another document!). Anyhow Amy and I are excited about this new addition to our family! Ty on the other hand... well that is up in the air at the moment. (I dont think he is big on the color pink!) Check back often as we will try to update as we move along! If you wish please Donate to help our cause!
